Cash
Riders can always pay with cash when boarding a bus and VIA’s new farebox makes it simple to simply insert bills and coins; a change receipt will be provided for overpayments of a $1.00 or more.
Credit/Debit Card
You can now use a contactless credit/debit card right on the bus. Same fare, no added fees. Just tap and go. VIA will accept contactless Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards. American Express will not be accepted.
Mobile Wallet
Use your Apple, Google or Samsung mobile wallet when boarding and inform the operator if you qualify for a discount, otherwise a full fare will be charged. Day Passes can not be purchased on the bus using a credit card or mobile wallet.
Where to Buy Paper E-fare Cards
You can purchase paper e-fare cards at all VIA Customer Service Centers and many retail outlets like H-E-B stores. Day Passes are also sold and activated on every bus. Free Paper Transfers are also available by request on your bus and allow for unlimited rides for 2.5 hours.

How to Use Paper E-fare Cards
Paper e-fare cards are valid for Prímo, Standard, Express and Park & Ride Event Service service. Simply show your e-fare card to any VIA official upon request. If using a half-fare e-fare card, a valid Reduced Fare ID card must also be presented at boarding. E-fare cards are not valid for VIAtrans, other special nor discounted service.
