Fare-Free to the MLK Jr. March
Ride VIA fare-free to the 37th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. March on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. VIA Metropolitan Transit’s complimentary bus service for march participants supports the nation’s largest MLK holiday procession.
Service to the 2024 March
Passengers may access free service to the march from 8 to 10 a.m. on Monday at two locations:
• Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E. Houston St. (Lot 1)
• St. Philip’s College, 1801 Martin Luther King Dr. (Lot 22). Lot 22 is at Montana and Mittman streets.
The drop-off location for service to the march will be on MLK Drive, west of Upland Drive.
Return Service from the March
Buses will return passengers to the original pick-up locations from noon to 3 p.m. Participants may access return service at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa St.
The community is invited to visit the VIA tent at Pittman-Sullivan Park from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., near the YMCA Parking Lot, where the vintage Dreamliner bus will be parked for viewing. VIA team members will be on site to share information about VIA programs and services, including the Keep SA Moving plan and ongoing projects designed to improve public transit options throughout San Antonio and Bexar County.

Holiday Schedule for Bus Service
VIA Metropolitan Transit bus routes and information centers will operate on the following special schedule on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday:
• All regular bus routes – “Saturday” schedule
• “Go Line” customer information line, 210-362-2020 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Downtown and Crossroads Information Centers – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• All other information centers – Closed
For assistance in planning trips with VIA, customers may call 210-362-2020. They may also purchase passes and plan trips with the user-friendly VIA goMobile+ app. Passengers can simply show their phone screen to the operator when boarding. The free app is available on Apple and Android smartphones
