VIA Volunteers Join Community Relief Efforts
During February’s unprecedented winter storm, VIA team members showed great care and compassion in answering the call to support local emergency operations.
VIA helped deliver seniors and families to warming centers. We were part of outreach efforts to move people experiencing homelessness to safe cover. We stood ready to provide warming spots at area shelters that were overrun with people seeking help. And as soon as road conditions allowed, we continued to connect customers to medical appointments, dialysis treatments, and other essential destinations.
VIA Cares volunteers are part of the ongoing work to assist in our community’s restoration and recovery by supporting the San Antonio Food Bank, the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and other organized relief efforts.
We’re here to connect our community, every day.
If you are home bound and in need of food, please call the San Antonio Food Bank at (210) 431-8326 to pre-register. Learn more about the Food Bank’s mission at SAFoodBank.org.
The City of San Antonio, Bexar County and San Antonio Food Bank opened a total of 13 bottled water distribution sites between February 20 and March 6, where residents could pick up one case of bottled water per day per household.
